Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I first stepped on the ice aged 6, deciding on hockey after a brief stint as a figure skater and speed skater. Happy that I didn’t have to wear a dress I fell in love with the game. The exploring didn’t stop there as I have played across the years as a forward, defender and a goalie. I have represented my country in two out of three of these positions and look forward to the challenges this season will hold and seeing how I can further develop as a player.
Describe yourself as a player.
I would describe myself as a versatile player who works hard on and off the puck in every position I play, I am not afraid to be physical and get stuck into challenges and 50:50 battles. I would say my strengths include: Stickhandling, and being able to read the game/see the ice well.
What is your biggest accomplishment in hockey?
Representing my country at 9 World Championship events and winning Best Player for GB at two of those championships.
How does it feel to have signed a contract to play for Göteborg Hockey Club in SDHL?
I am very excited to have this opportunity to develop my game whilst playing alongside and competing against some of the best athletes in our sport. Playing in the SDHL is going to be a great challenge that I look forward to tackling head on.
Why did you choose to come to Gothenburg HC?
Gothenburg HC provides me with a chance to improve and develop my game which I wouldn’t have been able to achieve if I stayed in England. I am really looking forward to increased volume in training and a greater number of games within the season. Having played alongside netminder Nicole Jackson and forward Abbie Thornton in England, and hearing of their experiences at Gothenburg, I knew it was the right place for me to escalate my hockey career.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Having access to more training sessions, both on and off ice, I am expecting to see a significant improvement in my fitness. Further to this, I am excited to play at such a high level and be exposed to a different speed and style of hockey that I can learn from and add to my game.
